Michiyo Tsujimura was an agriculture scientist and a biochemist, who was born on 17 September 1888. Her research focus was on the green tea components. She was known as the first woman who received a doctoral degree in agriculture. She was inspired by biologist Kono Yasui who taught her biochemical science. He motivated her to enhance her interest in scientific research. After graduation, she became a teacher at Yokohama High School for women. Michiyo Tsujimura started her career in 1920 at the time of joining Hokkaido Imperial University in the position of laboratory assistant. As there were no female students allowed in the university at that time, so, she started working in an unpaid position at Ford Nutritional Laboratory of the agricultural chemistry department of university. In 1929 she researched green tea and isolated the flavonoid catechin from it. There is a thesis of her by the name On the Chemical Component of Green Tea. She isolated the allocated in 1934 and showed her way of extracting vitamin C crystal form in 1935. She became a researcher and gave us one of our great research that made her memorable.
