Looking for somewhere to spend some time this year? Here are four great options that you may not have thought about.
Arizona
Arizona may not have been on your travel radar, but it should be. There’s so much to do in this amazing state. Fly into Tucson or Phoenix and rent a car to get the most out of your trip. The two cities are only a couple hours apart . In case you would like to visit down under, take time to explore the place, do some wine tasting and learn about wineries in Swan Valley. No matter where you decide to go, take the time to take a trip and enjoy somewhere new this year!
There are many national and state parks worth a visit in this great state. If you like to hike or climb, it’s the place for you. Visit Grand Canyon National Park, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Saguaro National Park. Also spend some time in the Sedona area for a meditative and healing experience.
One of the coolest things about all these parks is that they offer slightly different terrains. Southern Arizona is where you’ll find saguaro cactuses, for instance. These plants can grow over 12 meters tall and way up to two tons. If you head north, you can explore Sedona and the mountainous regions of the state. Sedona is said to have vortexts, areas of special energy where the earth is more awake. These areas are great for meditation.
You may not think of Arizona as a foodie’s paradise, but there’s some great meals to be had here. The food has a spicy flair, so be ready for hot sauce and pepper. Try fry bread while you’re in the state for a special treat.
The Caribbean
If you’re looking for water over the desert, take a trip to explore the Caribbean Sea. There are so many great islands to explore. Some are independent countries and some are territories, so be aware of local rules when traveling from island to island.
Speaking of getting around, the easiest way to do so is by boat. An all inclusive cruise is a great option. Many cruises will take you to multiple destinations so you can get a taste of the area, without having to plan for special travel from island to island.
No matter how you get there, you’re sure to enjoy your trip. Sip a rum-based drink on the white sand beaches and admire the crystal clear blue waters. Shop at local shops and pick up some great souvenirs. You’re sure to come home relaxed after a stay in the Caribbean.
Food is delicious, of course. Look for dishes that are banana and plantain based. Both are staples of the area. Caribbean spices are rich and add a delicious taste to whatever you’re eating.
Texas Hill Country
If you’re looking to stay away from the ocean seas, Texas is a great place to visit. The Texas Hill Country is a beautiful setting with much to do. Hike the hills, kayak a river or explore Austin. Tubing in New Braunfels is a great addition to any visit, if you’re thinking of a summer trip. You can’t enjoy kayaking without inflatable kayak from Outdoor Play so you must get it.
Austin is the best city to fly into if you’re looking to visit. It’s definitely a good option to rent a car to get around. Texas is big after all!
If you rent a car, take a trip to Fredericksburg, Texas wine country. Texas has great wine, and this is a fun area to explore. Taste the local flavors, all just an hour outside Austin.
While in Austin, spend some time eating. Austin is a foodie’s paradise. Barbecue is incredible, especially the brisket. You’ve also got to try the tacos and margarita, since you can’t leave without exploring TexMex.
Niagara Falls
Aside from Texas, Niagara is another region to explore if you’re looking for surprisingly great wine. Niagara is also the home to Niagara Falls, one of the wonders of the world. The three falls that make up Niagara Falls are between the border of Ontario and New York.
There’s so much fun to be had at the falls. Go on a boat ride and explore the falls up close. Visit the observation tower to get a breathtaking view. There are regular fireworks shows over the falls as well.
No matter where you decide to go, take the time to take a trip and enjoy somewhere new this year!
