The best variations of Roulette

At the heart of every Roulette game is that iconic red and black wheel, filled with pockets that are specifically designed to capture that little white ball. Whether you’re playing at a brick-and-mortar location or your favorite online casino, you’re sure to find a game or two of Roulette right around the corner.

Over the years, several variations of the game have been coined, taking into account the region and ways to play. Playing online has never been so exciting – as now, you can even play Karamba live casino from the comfort of your own home. All the thrills and spills of live-action Roulette can now be played right there in your front room.

But the question remains: which version will you play? Read on to find out more.

European Roulette

This is the most common variation of the age-old classic – found both online and in the majority of land-based locations, especially across Europe (hence the name). This wheel includes a single zero pocket, which puts the house edge at a considerably fair 2.7%. The lower house edge is why European Roulette finds itself as the most preferred variation of the game – arguably falling more in the favor of the player. You can try this mode on lightning roulette!

There are a total of 37 numbered pockets in this variation, alternating between red and black, whilst the zero pocket is green. The pattern of the numbers is as follows: 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26.

American Roulette

As the name suggests, the American version of the game is primarily found across the United States and Canada, as well as the Bahamas, Caribbean Islands, and some regions in Asia. The American Roulette wheel has 38 colored pockets, also following the black and red pattern. But this time, you’ll find a single and double zero pocket on the wheel, filled in with green. This is what drives up the game’s house edge – with the figure settling at around 5.26%.

The standard layout for this wheel is as follows: 0, 28, 9, 26, 30, 11, 7, 20, 32, 17, 5, 22, 34, 15, 3, 24, 36, 13, 1, 00, 27, 10, 25, 29, 12, 8, 19, 31, 18, 6, 21, 33, 16, 4, 23, 35, 14, 2.

French Roulette

A slightly rarer find, the French version of the game is the best option if you’re looking for even chance bets. The layout is the same as the European wheel, however, any losing even-chance bet – such as red/black – will be paid back half of the original wager. Whilst this may not be the winning sum that you were aiming for, it’s certainly better than nothing!

Due to the table layout and details being entirely in French, this version of the game is considerably hard to find in real-life casinos, outside of France. Nevertheless, if you choose to play online then you will be far more likely to come across this gem.

Mini Roulette

Speaking of online games, you’ll often find a shortened version of Roulette on your favorite gaming sites. These games will consist of just 13 pockets – six red, six black, and one zero. Due to the reduction in options on the wheel, the payouts have also been scaled down accordingly. Because of this, Mini Roulette is largely aimed towards players who are just looking for a bit of fun, over the chance to win big.
