4 Tricks You Need to Know Before Using a Hair Straightener

As a woman, you know the only thing worse than curly hair is not having curly hair. While straightening out your mane can be a pain in the butt, you can make things easier by knowing what to expect when using a flat iron or finding a hair straightener online. And here are some tricks and tips to prepare you for successful styling:

  • Add Heat Protectant

A hair straightener uses heat to smooth your hair, which can be damaging. So, you need to apply a product that will help keep the heat from frying your hair. There are many different kinds of products that do this, ranging from sprays to creams and serums. And if you want to keep your hair looking healthy and shiny, using these products is essential!

Before applying the product, you should start by removing any tangles in your hair with a comb or brush. Then spread it evenly throughout each section of strands with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb until all the pieces are coated evenly with a product on both sides. Also, be sure not to overdo it; too much can cause greasiness or stiffness instead of protection against damage, so just use enough so that everything feels nice and soft afterwards!

  • Dry Hair First

Your hair straightener might seem like a magical tool that can turn your curls into straight locks in an hour, but it’s not magic, and you can’t expect it to do all the work for you. So, before using any type of heat styling tool on your hair, you must ensure it is as dry as possible. If you don’t dry your hair first, using a flat iron or curling iron could cause damage by bringing out natural oils from underneath layers in your hair.

So, to help speed up this process, you may use a blow dryer while brushing through with a round brush (burners work best) until there are no damp spots left behind.

  • Select the Appropriate Temperature

You also want to ensure you’re using the right temperature for your hair type. Whether you have naturally curly or straight locks, the type of heat that best straightens your hair remains a personal choice. For example, if you have fine and thin hair, start at 120 degrees Celsius (248 F) and then increase it by 20 degrees every 30 seconds until you hit 150 degrees Celsius (302 F). Meanwhile, if your strands are coarse, thick or damaged, or if they fall into any of these categories, you should set your straightener at 190 C (374 F). Moreover, you can find the best hair straighteners online.

  • Straighten Small Sections of Hair

It’s best to straighten small sections of hair at a time rather than trying to do your whole head in one go. This will protect it from damage and breakage if you have fine or thin hair. And to avoid unnecessary burning, ensure the temperature setting is on low and that you don’t accidentally place the iron near your scalp. Meanwhile, use a comb or brush before straightening to ensure even heat distribution throughout each section of hair you’re working on. Heat protectant sprays and serums are essential for keeping your hair healthy while using these tools; they keep it from becoming damaged by styling tools like flat irons and curling irons (as well as blow-dryers), which can add up over time!

If you follow these tips, you should have no problem getting the look you want. In fact, with such simple steps and our expert advice, using a hair straightener will become one of your favourite beauty routines. And don’t forget: if all else fails, there’s always an adage that works best—practice makes perfect!
