TIPS TO ADD MORE VEGGIES AND FRUITS TO YOUR DIET

Green leafy vegetables are an indispensable part of one’s diet. It is a shame that people don’t eat as many veggies as they should. But, often, one would like to incorporate more fruits and veggies in their diet plan; they just don’t know how to do that. Modern lifestyle forces one to eat outside food, even if they want to avoid it. Therefore, one must find clever ways to incorporate fruits and veggies into one’s diet. Half A Plate Rule: You must fill half of your plate with fresh veggies and fruits at every meal. It will ensure you have enough fruits throughout the day. But, it is easier said than done. Eating fresh veggies at every meal takes time and preparation. So, you must be extra cautious about your approach to food.

  • Slice your favorite fruits and veggies and store them in vacuum seal bags. Putting them in sealed bags will make the veggies stay fresh for a long. And the process will save your prep time at every meal.
  • You can make a list of fruits and veggies you want to eat during the week and purchase them once you hit the supermarket. You may also purchase fresh seasonal veggies from the local produce guy. Once you have the fruits and veggies, cut them and store them in separate sealed bags.

Healthy Snacks: People often make the wrong food choices when hungry. Therefore, make a habit of preparing and eating healthy snacks. The first step of eating healthy is eliminating all the junk food sources from the house. If you have store-bought cakes, chips, and sugary drinks in the fridge, it is time to throw them out. The excess amount of sugar will do more harm to your body than you can imagine. Instead, opt for healthy snacks such as a fruit bowl or a salad bowl. You can even make a protein shake to take to the gym. Here is a recipe for a simple protein smoothie.

  • One banana
  • Two tablespoons of peanut butter
  • One tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • One cup of milk of your choice (preferably vegan options such as almond milk or soy milk)
  • One raw egg    
  • Blackberries
  • Chia seeds

Put the above ingredients in a blender, and you have a fantastic protein smoothie with all-natural items.

New Recipes: At times, people are not willing to make changes. They still want to eat a big bowl of pasta and not eat vegetables. For them, you have to be creative, especially with kids. If you modify your recipes, you can trick kids (and adults alike) into eating more veggies. They won’t even know that you have modified the recipes. For example, you can add fresh tomatoes, capsicums, and bell papers to your omelets. Thus, whenever you crave an omelet, you are consuming lots of veggies.
