A Quick Guide for Your Fort Lauderdale Escapade

There’s no other city fit for the nickname “Venice of America” than Fort Lauderdale. Its well-earned name springs from its astonishing ribbons of waterways which the city makes good use of.

If you want to cultivate a water-lover’s lifestyle, you’ll surely enjoy it here under the warm Florida sunshine. Whether you’re a foodie, a fishing enthusiast, or a party-boarder– you’ll definitely find something fun to do in this city.

When to Visit

You can always visit South Florida all year round. But if you want to truly enjoy your stay, the months of June to August are the best time.

Keep in mind that hurricanes start from June and last till November, so it’s best to monitor the weather. If you’re not bothered by hot weather, try to plan your adventure for the summer months.

4 Exciting Things To Do

1) Hit the beach

If you fancy swimming in calm and uncrowded waters, you’ll fancy Fort Lauderdale Beach. You’ll find the same crystal water and white sand as Miami beach but without the flock. For a relaxed ambiance and stunning views, you might prefer the secluded Dania and Hillsboro beaches.

2) Enjoy a feast

With a myriad of restaurants scattered around Fort Lauderdale, you might get overwhelmed. A go-to play for locals and tourists is Parrot Lounge. Enjoy their well-known cocktails while munching on their tasty pub grub.

But if you’re more in the mood for something Mediterranean, don’t miss Greek Islands Taverna and their char-broiled lamb chops. Be sure to try the traditional beef shawarma wrap of Noor Bakery and Deli. It can get expensive, so try to seek advice from locals before dining in a fancy restaurant.

3) Sail the city aboard a water taxi

Don’t miss out on riding a water taxi. It’s the best way to witness the marvel of the city’s canal system. You can hop on and off at any of the stops close to local attractions.

Water taxis are designed to take tourists from wherever they’re staying to basically anywhere around the beach and waterways. It’s a scenic ride and an attraction all on its own.

4) Step into the past through museums and gardens

Are you into art and gardens? Visit the Bonnet House, an iconic plantation home since 1920s. Be in awe at their luxurious buildings nestled between beautiful gardens. Today, it’s considered a museum and a precious relic of the past where everything is preserved in its original state.

Visitors can purchase a tour of the house and gardens or opt to pay half the price if they only wish to see the greenery. If you’re craving more modern art, take a stroll at Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. You’ll see a vast collection of murals made by local and international artists.

Places to Stay

Are you on a budget or looking for something in particular? There are plenty of Fort Lauderdale stays to choose from. Fort Lauderdale has two distinct regions, with municipalities and neighborhoods having their own unique appeal, namely:

    • Fort Lauderdale Beach – Central Beach: It’s a lively oceanfront boardwalk filled with top resorts for extravagant tourists who loves to be near the beach.
  • Las Olas – Downtown: This is the epicenter of activities and nightlife, perfect for party people. It’s brimming with art galleries, bars, museums, and nightclubs.
  • Lauderdale By The Sea: It’s a small, charming beach town known for restaurants, shopping centers, and family-friendly beachfront hotels. This is ideal for families as places to stay are near to everything.

Mark your calendar!

Why go far when you can easily reach Fort Lauderdale from anywhere in the U.S. for a vacation? Whether you need a short-city break or a long vacation away from stress, this water city is worth a visit.
